Elaine Brady Smith

I’m a Pennsylvania native and graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in Graphic Arts.  I’ve also studied for many years with regional and national artists in various mediums. My current focus is oil painting – Still Life, Botanical and Florals, and Classic Cars

I have shown my work in many solo exhibits and corporate displays in Pennsylvania galleries and businesses. Given the current atmosphere of the world in these unusual times, I am currently working exclusively from my home studio on an new body of work along with daily painting studies.

“My work is primarily about still life. I love the simplicity of details and the focus of light on a single object. There is something extraordinary about the quiet space that is preserved in a painting of a single object or the organized arrangement of multiple objects.

I have come to believe that painting is essential to life…at least it is to my life!!! I can honestly say that painting is what I think about day after day and never grow weary of and it absolutely lifts me and gives me purpose. I’m prone to get a little cranky when I have periods of not painting. And I believe painting is not just a God given talent, it is a skill that needs to be practiced and when practiced often and consistently, one is able to learn and excel to new levels with each painting.

As an artist, I believe an essential part of the creative process is to try out many ideas in order to arrive where we are meant to be creatively. My work undergoes transition on a daily basis as I move into new phases and ideas on how to present my subject matter. Art should be an enjoyable and satisfying experience as well as challenging to encourage growth towards excellence.”

I have many original paintings available, as well as limited edition prints of some of the works. Please inquire about availability of works and prints.
